The Indonesian Student Micro-Credentials (Kredensial Mikro Mahasiswa Indonesia, "KMMI") is a complementary learning program to improve students' knowledge and skills in the world of work and industry that supports the implementation of the independent study program at the Kampus Merdeka. Students carry out the KMMI program by taking courses outside the campus. In addition to involving students and universities, the KMMI program also involves various companies that are relevant to each course to fill learning time with more actual learning, taking various examples of actual cases that have been experienced by each company which will later be helpful as material for analysis of students who is taking the course.

Michelle Avrellia, a Sociology Education student, was undergoing the KMMI program by taking a Social Mapping in Development course at the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology from August 14, 2021 – to October 7, 2021. The learning was given by lecturers from the ITS development studies department and practitioners from the CSR department of PT. GIS. Lectures last for 11 meetings every 2-3 meetings per week with a lecture duration of 4 hours. The material presented includes an introduction to the implementation of CSR programs, the preparation of CSR programs, an introduction to research methodology and social analysis, theories and concepts of social mapping in development, the concept and philosophy of participation: dimensions and types of participation in development programs, typology and community characteristics in the preparation of participatory techniques. Need Assessment, facilitation techniques, mediation and negotiation, participatory model practice, participatory social mapping methods, application of participatory methods, participatory analysis of social mapping, stakeholder analysis, analysis of stakeholder roles and interests, application of Logical Framework Analysis, participatory program planning, and evaluation programs, and closed with the presentation of the final project assignment. During the learning process, all the material provided in case studies given by lecturers and students must analyze and evaluate what should be implemented so that the CSR program can run well. In addition, the learning process is carried out in groups, where each student from each different university will be formed in groups to do various tasks given by lecturers or practitioners of PT. GIS. The final task given is that each group must develop a company CSR program using the basis of social mapping obtained during learning by taking company case studies through surveys to selected companies to conducting surveys on every community member affected by the presence of the company that stands in their place of residence. After conducting a survey and getting data from both the company and the community, the next step is to conduct an analysis outlined in a proposal and presented in front of lecturers and practitioners from PT. GIS.

After joining the KMMI program, according to Michelle Avrellia, "This is very beneficial for students, lecturers and company practitioners who work together in this program. The learning experience in the KMMI program has given me many benefits, such as taking courses outside of the department that adds new insights. Moreover, get to meet friends from every different university." In addition, because this program collaborates with company practitioners directly, the learning becomes more meaningful because each practitioner provides knowledge according to the field conditions felt by the company.
