Building Buniara Village Through Optimization of Coffee Beans

The Sociology Education Student Association (HMPS), under the auspices of the Sociology Education Study Program, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, has carried out Community Service (P2M) in Buniara Village Tanjungsiang District, Subang Regency, West Java. This program is realized based on one of the tri dharma of higher education which is one of the obligations to be carried out by students.

In this program, HMPS, together with the village community, is trying to improve the processing of coffee varieties in Buniara Village, which is considered less than optimal. This is because ordinary villagers only sell coffee in the form of cherries to a middleman, so their income is still not much. In comparison, coffee varieties in finished products have a much higher price. However, this becomes difficult to implement due to the limited ability and availability of tools owned by the village community.

After discussing with the community, it finally formed the details of what will be done during the service program. One of them is building a greenhouse that will be used to dry coffee products produced by the community. This program was implemented from August to December. Moreover, it will be implemented again in 2022. With the sustainability of this program, it is hoped that it will run successfully and achieve the expected target.
